At SHSJ, we enjoy welcoming seafarers with open arms, but we also want to encourage them to enjoy the culture that can be seen in Old San Juan. Downtown, we have a supermarket where you can buy snacks on the go, and you can also take advantage of the different places available in the area to eat at a reasonable price. We will share our recommendations to several restaurants that you can visit while in Old San Juan.
For starters, El Hamburger is an excellent choice if you want a beef hamburger or a chicken sandwich. Also, their fries are delicious, and the place is only a 4-minute drive or 20 minute walk from our center. The Cayo Caribe restaurant is another option if you are in the mood for Puerto Rican food or seafood. It is a 3-minute walk from downtown. If you come to Old San Juan with a craving for pizza, we recommend Pirilo Pizza Rústica, which has a variety of pizzas and pastas for with those with different tastes. It is just a 3-minute walk from our SHSJ center as well. For people who enjoy Mexican food but with a Puerto Rican touch, we recommend Greengos restaurant, which is 2 minutes from downtown. If you are looking for a truly Puerto Rican cuisine restaurant, then we recommend Café Manolín. Once there, we recommend you try the reasonably priced mofongo they serve/ It is 5 minutes from our center. Finally, for coffee lovers we recommend Café Cuatro Sombras, located 4-minutes from downtown, to enjoy an excellent artisan coffee.
Old San Juan has a wide range of restaurants and a variety of cuisines at different price ranges. So if you are in the mood for something specific, don't hesitate to ask a SHSJ employee for a recommendation to make your visit to our island an enriching one.
